What the fare actually buys
Entry to Toyosu Market is free and always has been, so nothing here is being sold to you as access. What the fare covers is a guide, an audio handset for every traveller, the transfer between the two markets, and a route through three and a half hours that has been walked several hundred times.
The audio guide is the part that makes the difference. An auction hall is a loud room behind glass, a guide cannot raise a voice over it, and a group standing at the rail hears about half of what is said. A handset removes that problem entirely, and it is why this morning reads better in its reviews than its price would suggest.
The observation deck, and what the operator can and cannot do
The lower deck is balloted by the market itself, about a month ahead. This operator will register your names for it if you book by the fifth of the preceding month, and will tell you the result — and it says plainly that the ballot is random and nobody can promise a place.

Finding the Lawson at Senkyaku Banrai
Lawson Toyosu Market Senkyaku Banrai at 5:00am sharp; hotel pickup between 4:20am and 5:00am is an optional paid add-on. Private Tsukiji Toyosu tours each name their own corner, and the map page puts all of them on the ground with the entrance each one uses.
Know before you go
- Be at the Lawson by five. Not five past. The meeting point is the convenience store at Senkyaku Banrai and the group leaves on time.
- Come by taxi. No train reaches the market that early. Hotel pickup between 4:20 and 5:00 is offered as a paid extra if you would rather not arrange one.
- Bring cash and your passport. Cash for the stalls, and photo identification in case the ballot has put you on the lower deck.
- Breakfast is a stop, not a buffet. Forty-five minutes at a market counter, ordered from the menu of the day.
- Dress for a cold room. The hall is refrigerated and the floors are wet, whatever the month.
- It cannot work around every diet. Vegetarian, halal and gluten-free requirements cannot be accommodated on this morning, and some tastings carry age limits.
